Day 1 - Leaving Tennessee

This is the day!  We're heading out for California this morning.

After a good bit of discussion yesterday, my mother and I decided that we were exhausted from all the days of packing and preparation, not to mention me waking up yesterday puking my guts out and feeling like I was going to die - so we decided to post pone our trip until this morning.

We actually had piled into the van and started driving yesterday as I was determined to not let exhaustion and shakiness slow me down.  But, my mother looked extremely worn out and was lamenting that she wished she could take a nap so I suggested we go back home and just chill out.  She was easy to agree.

I stopped at Best Buy on the way back home and picked up a couple of pair of children's head phones so they could listen to their new DVD player without disturbing my mother's peace and quiet for reading on the trip.  (Yep.  I saw that frown on her face when I first turned on their DVD player and her sensitive ears were accosted by the noise).

I couldn't help myself.  I picked up a pair of Bose Headphones for myself.  Talk about killer, crystal clear sound?!  OMG!!

Then, I stopped at Target and picked up several packages of coffee and chai tea for my Tassimo coffee machine - which was one of the first things I packed for the trip.  I can't live without coffee, and next to Starbucks that Tassimo machine makes the best coffee and it only takes 30 seconds to brew a cup.  In fact, Starbucks and Gevalia both make coffee that machine.  I love it!

Anyway, it's 7am now and mom and the kids are awake and raring to start out on the trip so I need to close here so we can get on the road.  We should be out no later than 8am.  Probably earlier.

Those of you who say prayers - to whatever deity, please keep us in your prayers for a safe trip to and from California.
