Had a totally fun and excellent day yesterday!
Pulling into a parking lot off Wilshire Blvd, I noticed people milling around in busy little groups and policemen were on every corner to direct traffic. On looking a bit closer, I noticed that one of the groups had a huge movie camera.
Everyone was there to film a single scene for a new Green Hornet movie, starring Seth Rogan. (It's amazing to watch the steady, busy stream of traffic that travels Wilshire Blvd. to suddenly stop when the police redirect it for a movie scene to be shot. Suddenly, Wilshire Blvd. is traffic-free and quiet as a ghost town and then, the movie action begins.)
When you watch the video, you will see a policeman on a motorcycle fly by on my side of the street, followed by a car that is filming the scene with camera equipment strapped to it. On the far side of the street a motorcycle with an asian actor flies by. He's the one that's being filmed. Diagonally across the street is a large camera crew who are also filming the scene with a stationary camera.
The shot ends when the motorcyclist reaches the end of the street and a man from the stationary camera crew yells 'cut!'. The biker then makes a U-Turn and flies back by me.
This is the video I got with my iPhone of that shot:
All in all, it was very exciting for me to watch a movie scene being shot!
Hmmm. I should invest in a really nice movie camera. Something fairly portable that I can whip out at a second's notice to shoot the interesting stuff that pops up in L.A.
Afterwards, I went to the library and got an official Los Angeles Library card so I can check out books.
Later, while my mother was in CVS picking up some needed odds and ends I hung out in the van with the kids. It was when I popped out of the van to catch a smoke that I noticed the huge building across the street. It was the Writer's Guild of America West building!! That's the place where I'll be registering my script when it's complete. And hopefully, the place were I join the writer's guild as soon as I sell a piece of my work.
Not an exciting video for non-writers, but exciting for me - here is the Writer's Guild of America West on Fairfax Ave in West Hollywood, directly across from the original Farmer's Market:
That was enough excitement for one day, so we grabbed a few items from Ralphs Market for our Thanksgiving dinner the next day, and headed home. The kids went to bed early and I stayed up watching a couple of episodes of 'Ghost Hunter' and nibbling on cold crab meat left over from my Birthday dinner.
Lovely Day!
