This should be an exciting week!
I have two travel nursing companies submitting my job applications to various states. How the process works is that when an application is submitted, the person in charge of hiring will call me and interview me by phone. If they decide to hire me, they tell my nursing company and off I'll go!
Last Friday, my application was sent to two places: Washington Medical Center in Washington D.C., and Cedars Sinai in Hollywood. My preference would be Cedars Sinai because it is a Monday through Friday 8 hour Clinic job. That would be a fun and easy job. Washington though, is full of museums and places to explore so that would be fun too.
On a side note, I had let my Florida license lapse a year ago. The good news was that all I had to do to renew it was to take some continuing education credits online. So I did, and got my Florida license back. The main reason I didn't submit my application to a Florida hospital is because they pay less than most other states. But, considering the time of year, if I don't get one of the positions I've applied for, I might just take one in southern Florida.
The hardest part now, is the waiting. The exciting part is not knowing where the 'Fates' will send me. Such adventures lay in front of me for the next few months until my kids start Kindergarten next year.
Speaking of Kindergarten, my kids are so far down the 'waiting list' for that magnet school I want them to attend, that they might not even get in until first or second grade. If that's the case, I may extend my travel for one extra year and let them attend kindergarten 'on the run' around the country. It's just a thought.
Anyway, I should be interviewed this week and get an idea of a starting date. I'll probably be leaving for my new job within the next 2 weeks. I have a huge list of things to take with me on the trip, and things I need to take care of at home before I leave. Shewww. It will be so nice to finally climb into my packed van and relax, knowing that everything is in order.
Today, I'm taking my kids and mother with me around town. I'm thinking strongly of getting my van's factory stereo system replaced with one that will play my iPhone and iPod Classic. I have a ton of audio books I'd like to listen to - both fiction books and books on screenwriting. Not to mention my music collection. Those things would be nice for passing the long hours of the trip in front of me.
Well, I'm off for a bit of shopping and lunch on the run.
