So much for big plans today.
All four of us have been fighting a virus since Tuesday night.
Lucy was first with a 102 degree temp. Jack started with his elevated temp the next evening and he woke up vomiting. I wasn't too concerned about his vomiting one time, because he has a very easy gag reflex. If you chew up food and open your mouth in front of him, he'll gag. OK That's a bit gross, and probably a bit sadistic to do to the poor kid, but it was funny to watch the day we accidentally discovered his gag reaction and me and Lucy just rolled on the floor in gales of laughter each time he'd look at the chewed up Oreo cookies in our mouths and gag. Before you start feeling sorry for the poor boy, know that he likes to wipe his snotty nose on my shirt, then he runs away laughing.
Anyway, both kids have been snotty and sneezy on and off since then. I never got the head cold symptoms, but I had chills, malaise, and dizziness on and off for three days. Mom went to the doctor and was diagnosed with bronchitis, so she got some antibiotics.
Fun way to start the New Year, eh?
Anyway, the kids seemed more perky last night so I thought we'd do the shopping at the Air Force Base today. That idea got shelved when I checked Jack's temp - 100.8 - lower than before, but not enough to go running around town.
So, the kids and mom hung out at home for another day and I made a much needed grocery run.
Lucy helped me mix up the ingredients for the kid's favorite - a homemade pumpkin pie. It's in the oven now and making the apartment smell 'homey'.
The kids had a nice bath and will lounge around in their PJs watching Gene Wilder in 'Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory'. Then, they'll eat pizza and pumpkin pie, and hit the bed. No naps today were had today, so I'm guessing they'll fall asleep quickly.
Afterwards, mom and I will a dinner of pork chops, and boiled cabbage and potatoes while we watch a couple of episodes of 'Ghost Hunters' - my latest addiction.
If everyone is well tomorrow we'll explore something interesting in California.
