Trip Home Update

Once again, I posted everything to my Facebook from my iPhone, so I'm going to update my trip on this site in one lump of entries from my Facebook.

March 12

Change of travel plans. We will be heading back to Chattanooga this weekend. The hospital hired a full-time girl who is taking the physician group I've been working, so my contract is going to be up 2 weeks early! I am so excited!! We will be packing tonight and tomorrow. Whoo Hoo!!

Well, I'm done working at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles. Taking a break tonight then will spend the weekend packing up everything. Will be heading for home on Monday, March 15th and should arrive in Chattanooga TN sometime on Friday, March 19th. Wow! With everything I did and saw in Hollywood, it felt more like a fast-paced vacation than work. I'm ready for a rest!! The only thing I feel sorry about is that the squirrel who eats out of our hands on the balcony won't have his daily peanut feasts. What's he gonna do without us?!

Pretty much all packed up for the trip back to Tennessee tomorrow. Just a bit of cleaning left to do this morning. Then, we are going to take one more spin around our favorite haunts in Hollywood to bid them farewell - for now. As Arnold Schwarzenegger is famous for saying, "I'll be back!"

March 15

Arrg! Just woke up after 2 days of packing and apartment cleaning. My body feels like I've been hit by a truck! Breakfast? Aspirin, a cup of strong coffee and a couple of cigarettes - then I'm going to stuff boxes, suitcases, toys etc. into my little Sienna van. It's going to be tying Scarlett O'Hara into a corset. Wish me luck.

Almost to Tucson Arizona! Long day of driving ahead.

OMG A drive- through Starbucks in Tucson! No parking meters. No walking. No Line to wait in. Haven't seen one of these in the 4 months I was in Los Angeles. Ain't life grand!

New Mexico rest stop. Talk about taking a quick smoke! I'll use a restroom later. Don't want a rattle snake to wander in while I'm taking care of business.

March 17

Two days and we've traveled 1,000 miles. Spending the night in Van Horn Texas. The kids are handling the trip wonderfully, although the strawberry Starbucks drinks make them talk about crazy stuff and go into giggling fits.

View from my driver's seat into back seat! LOL Driving with my rock rose plant on the console. Drove 600 miles yesterday and still in Texas. Damn big state. 800 miles to Chattanooga TN.

Just crossed into Louisiana. Poor mom is so weary, she snapped her sunglasses shade upside down over her glasses. That dark line across her nose is not a shadow, it's the top of the upside down shades. LOL

A semi just passed us going 75mph only he didn't straighten up his wheel. He ran off the road straight into the trees in the median with a loud crash. His tractor jack knifed and rolled. I had to swerve right to avoid flying debris. Talk about shaking! My teeth are chattering. Will google the wreck in Lauderdale Mississippi tomorrow. Hope the driver is OK.

Jack and Lucy checking out our La Quinta Inn room in Tuscoloosa Alabama last night. Called the state police this morning in Mississippi where the accident happened and they said the semi driver was going to be OK! Amazing!!
