LIfe in Chattanooga Tennessee

We've been back in Chattanooga for a week now and we are finally settling in.  It's amazing.  Getting used to Eastern time doesn't seem to be a problem at all.  Not like it was getting used to Pacific time.  It took us almost a month in California to adjust to the time change and not be tired all of the time.  I wonder why Eastern time is so easy to adjust to?  Maybe because that's the time my body has been used to all of its life.  I don't know.

Anyway, I'm home and have tons of things to take care of...

First line of business was to get my kids enrolled in Kindergarten.  Last year I stood in the sign-up line at a local 'free' magnet school every day for 3 weeks, trying to get my kids on their admission list.  The line started a whole month before sign-up day - a whole week before I knew that it had started forming, so my kids were #134 and #135 on the list and they only took the first 40 into their Kindergarten!  I'm told that they might not even make it into the program until after 4th grade.  Such a disappointment!  In the meantime, I want them in a good school while they are waiting to get into the Magnet school.  I'm wracking my brain to figure out a way to pay for private school until that time but the private school I'm considering will cost me $1,600 a month!  Not sure how I'm going to do that, but I'm going to try.

I am taking on a new project for the next month in the hopes that I can raise money for my kid's private school.  I'm going to write a book telling the trials and tribulations of Jack and Lucy's adoption.  It will include all of the failed attempts; the highs and lows; and the technical processes of private adoption.  Between the fact that I am an excellent writer and that there are tons of people out there who want to know how to adopt, I may have a hit.  Of course it may fail too, but I'll still get a lot of fun out of writing the book so it won't be a total loss.

I'm taking a month off to get my house and affairs in order, relax, and get some serious writing done.  Then, the last week of April we will be taking our annual trip to Deerfield Beach Florida.  After that, I will go back to work.  If my travel nurse company offers me a 13 week job in Nashville then, I'll take it. I want to check out their screenwriting groups and film school, and go to to the Nashville Screenwriter's conference in June.  If I don't take a job in Nashville, I'll find something locally.  Once August hits I'll have to be home for the kids to start school.

I'm totally enjoying being home with friendly folk, thunder storms, free parking, light traffic, and drive-through Starbucks windows.  LOL  So much different here than in Los Angeles.

Wish me luck on writing my Adoption novel.
