Writing My Adoption Story

Pounding Rain. Crashing Thunder. Blinding Streaks of Lightning. Howling Wind Gusts. Damn, I missed this Chattanooga weather when I was in L.A.!

My kids adoption story is amazing, and I have had both novelists and screenwriters approach me and ask to write my story. But, I'm a writer and a damn good one at that, so I declined the help. Two days ago  when I started wondering how I could raise money to put my kids through private school, it occurred to me that If I wrote the novel, my adoption story could very well bring in some funds for Jack and Lucy's education. It couldn't hurt to try. So I sat down and typed up an outline of the events surrounding my adoption journey and before I knew it, I had 11 pages - (2,222 words) of just outline! It's amazing all of the interesting memories that came flooding back.

Using 50,000 words as an average for a novel, I calculated that I need to write 1,667 words a day to finish the first draft of my book in one month. I started writing yesterday and wrote 1,777 words. Nice start eh?

I found the coolest software for Mac yesterday.  It's a program called KeyClick.  What it does is make your Mac sound like a typewriter while you are typing.  I miss the sound of my old fashioned typewriter.  There's something about the sounds of the keys clicking that makes you feel like you are really 'writing' something.  Of course I'm from the old school of writers.  Anyway, I downloaded the free 21 day trial and I'm loving it.  After the trial, the program costs a mere $5.00 and you can't beat that.  Loving it!!

Wish me luck!! Oh yeah. Don't forget to order an autographed copy from me when it's published. LOL

like Christian School material to you?"
